
Congratulations to Mr. Ben Groselak who attended the Those Who Excel Banquet on Saturday! Mr. Groselak, our 8th grade pre-algebra and algebra teacher, was given an Award of Special Recognition and honored by the Illinois State Board of Education. In addition, we would like to celebrate Mrs. Deana Simpson, Ms. Abbey Wheeler, and Mrs. Deb Sweeney who also won Those Who Excel Awards!

The paraprofessionals and interventionists are amazing staff members who work to ensure students are successful! A huge amount of gratitude is owned to them for everything they do!


Our students and staff are fortunate to have great support from our buildings and grounds, athletics, and activities staff, who help create opportunities for extracurricular events for the students! Meridian CUSD is lucky to have heroes working here!

In 8th grade Art class, the students made a painting for a teacher or staff member who meant a lot to them while they have been here at the Jr. High. Maddie R presented her painting to Mrs. Barton.

We would like to recognize Ms. Abbey Larkin (Wheeler) for receiving the Award for Excellence, an ISBE Those Who Excel Award. Ms. Larkin is a support staff member of MJHS and we are so lucky to have her. She goes above and beyond in many different ways on a daily basis and is always the first to step up to help. Ms. Arjes held a Spooktacular IXL Challenge. Overall, students answered 28,322 grade level questions correctly in a week! The winning class was 2nd Hour with over 10,000 questions answered correctly! The top two students from each class were also rewarded with a pizza party. Congrats to all! Keep practicing your Math!!
