Boys basketball will be starting next week! Practice will start the week of October 7th! Practice times for the following grades: 6th- 4:30-6:30 in MJHS Small Gym 7th- 2:30-4:30 in MJHS Big Gym 8th- 4:30-6:30 in MJHS Big Gym Please use the West doors to enter for practice. There will be a Parent Meeting in the Big Gym at 4:30 PM on Oct. 7th. We understand that some students may still be playing football for the first week and are unable to attend practices. Coach Stewart won't be practicing Monday after the parent meeting but he would like to touch base with his team regarding who is playing football and will be missing some practices. The link to order warm-up shirts is attached. The order deadline will be extended to Monday, October 7th, please order ASAP! Students must have completed registration online, paid the activity fee, and have a current sports physical to practice!

We will host our annual flu shot clinic with the Ogle County Health Department on Tuesday, October 8th at Meridian Junior High School. The clinic is open to all students, families, and community members!

MJHS Volleyball Families, I wanted to inform you that our scheduled volleyball open gym session for today and tomorrow 8/5 & 8/6 has been canceled. Unfortunately, the gym floor is not yet ready for use, and we want to ensure the safety and quality of the environment for our players. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and for the very short notice. The gym will be ready and open for use Wednesday and Thursday this week from 7:30-9:30 AM.

MJHS Parents/Guardians: Fall sports seasons will be starting soon! Below you will find information regarding registration and practice dates and times! Steps to Register: 1. Visit Meridian223.org and click on 8 to 18 (basketball icon) to register. 2. Complete the online registration forms. 3. Sports physicals must be turned in to the office for students to practice. 4. Pay the registration fee- this can be done online at the time of registration or use waiver code waiver2425 and send payment to the school office. Fall Sports Practice Dates: Cross Country: -First Practice: 8/19 2:30-4:15 Parent meeting at 4:15 -Practice Schedule: Monday-Friday 2:30-4:15, students will meet in room 217 after school. Volleyball: 6th Grade -First Practice: 8/19 2:30-4:30 at Monroe Center School, parent meeting at 4:30 -Practice Schedule: Monday- Friday 2:30-4:30, students will be bussed to Monroe Center school and can be picked up at 4:30 out front. 7th Grade & 8th Grade -There will be open gym from 8/5-8/8 from 7:30-9 AM. This is not mandatory, but an opportunity to meet coaches and get some extra practice time. -8/13- 7th and 8th grade practice together 3-4:30 (*This is a change from the original email! Sorry!) -8/14- 7th & 8th grade will practice together after school from 2:30-4:30 and the parent meeting will follow at 4:30. -Practice Schedule for remainder of season- -7th Grade- Monday-Friday 2:30-4:30 -8th Grade- Monday-Friday 4:30-6:30 Attached you will also find the order form for warm-up shirts, cross country t-shirts & tanks, and spiritwear. The store is open now through Aug. 19th. No late orders will be accepted as we will try to have items here prior to the first event. All registered athletes have been added to Rooms- if you have already downloaded the Meridan CUSD app you will start to see communication from your child’s coach soon. Congratulations to Mr. Ben Groselak who attended the Those Who Excel Banquet on Saturday! Mr. Groselak, our 8th grade pre-algebra and algebra teacher, was given an Award of Special Recognition and honored by the Illinois State Board of Education.
