Students need to bring their chromebook, charger, water bottle and lunch cards to school daily!  Please charge your Chomebooks at night !

  • We can now offer the BinaxNOW 15 minute rapid antigen test for your student if they have been exposed to a close contact at school or become symptomatic. A negative test result will allow your student to stay at school!  A signed consent form is required.  Print one off and send one in with your student to the office:  Rapid Covid-19 Testing Consent Form  Or call the office and we will send one home with your student for you! More information on testing can be found here: State of Illinois and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Guidance for COVID-19 Prevention in P-12 Schools

  •  Students are welcome at all home sporting events.  Home events do not start until 4:00.  Students will need to go home and come back at 4:00 if they want to watch an event.

  • Talk to your students and make sure they are using their padlocks.  Many students are leaving their phones in an unlocked locker!

  • Please make sure your student is arriving to school on time. The tardy bell rings at 8:00 am. Being late to school is part of the tardy policy. Three tardies in a quarter will result in a one hour after school detention. Nine or more tardies will result in a 4 hour Saturday school. See page 14 in student handbook.

  • Picture retake day is Thursday, December 2. You can order online at inter-state.com/order. You will need to use code: 60747RB.

  • The Community Craft Vendor Fair will be Sunday, December 5th 2pm - 7pm and the Scholastic Book Fair for the Jr High will be Sunday December 5th (same hours as the vendor fair) AND Monday December 6th through Friday, December 10th 7:30 am - 3:00pm. Students will visit the book fair during their literature classes. 
  •  Just a reminder, your student must be in school at least a half a day in order to attend an after school event. 

  •  If your student has been vaccinated, please send a copy of the vaccination card via email to Mrs. Davis or the nurse!  This will help stop the phone calls to you when a Test to Stay situation arises.  You can also send a copy to the office with your student if that is easier for you.  Thank you to all of you who have already sent it! jdavis@mail.meridian223.org  or kgabucci@mail.meridian223.org

  •  Breakfast and lunch is free for all students.  Your student has been issued a lunch card this year.  They are required to bring this card to lunch every day.  These lunch cards serve two purposes:  1. To keep the line moving so students have more time to eat. 2. And to ensure that charges for the ala carte items that students are able to purchase.  Students must have money on their account and their lunch card to purchase ala carte items.  You can check the balance on your student’s lunch account on Skyward.  Students can bring money to the office to be added to their accounts when necessary.

  •  Has your student ever asked for help with homework?  And if you are like me, you don’t remember Algebra at all.  So Paper to the rescue.  Your student now has live tutoring available 24 hours a day.  PAPER - Unlimited Academic Support  Students will receive a welcome email on Monday and a flyer to bring home.  Watch this short video to see it in action:  Paper For Parents. Teachers will be introducing it next week too! Complete with videos, games, and other interactive content in English and Spanish, Paper Station is a place for students to get acquainted with all of Paper’s features, who the tutors are, and how they work to assist your students. Though it was built specifically to teach students how to use Paper and what to expect once they log in, we encourage you to also explore the stations as well. The more you know about how your students can leverage the 24/7, unlimited tutoring that’s available to them, the more likely they’ll be to use it. Explore Paper Station here.

  •  Remember if you send a person in to pick up your student, they must be listed in your emergency contacts in Skyward.  They must also have a picture id.  You can add an emergency contact by signing into Skyward, clicking student info, and the blue “request changes” area on the far right.  You will see add emergency contact here.  Remember, students will only be released to someone over the age of 18.  If you need help, please contact the office.

  • Please make sure your student comes prepared every day with their Chromebook (charged), chargers, and water bottles.  Students may purchase a reusable water bottle from the office for $2.00 (supplies are limited).

  •  Please call your student in before 9:00; if you do not, you will receive the automatic caller reminding you to.  You can call and leave a message if the office is closed. You have 24 hours to call in an absence.  (You do not need to call each day if your student is quarantined.) If you do not contact the school then the absence is marked as unexcused no notice which is an unexcused absence.  Truancy referrals are required when a student has two unexcused absences.

  • Students are able to enter the building at 7:00 am.  6th and 8th grade students should report to the large gym and 7th grade students should report to the small gym.  Students are asked to go straight to their designated areas and not to stop at their lockers.
  • Students are able to turn in lunch money to the office in the mornings, cash and checks only. If you want to pay by debit or credit, you will need to do this through the District website (www.meridian223.org) and access the "E-pay" link; web payments may take 24 to 48 hours to update.

  • If your child is staying after school for practice or games, have them bring snacks.  They are not allowed to leave campus to go to Caseys or Marathon.

  • Remind your students that Chromebook repairs and replacements are expensive!  We have had a few broken screens recently!  This is the price list for repairs/replacements from the tech department.  If you are having technology issues, please go Meridian223.org; hover over the student tab, you will see a drop down for the student help desk.  You can enter your tech issues here; please be descriptive!

    • When someone says or does something unintentionally hurtful and they do it once, that is RUDE
    • When someone says or does something intentionally hurtful and do it once, that is MEAN
    • When someone says or does something intentionally hurtful and they keep doing it- even when you tell them to stop or show them you are upset, that is BULLYING
